About Us
The Cultural Dance Troupe of the West Indies, Inc. was founded in 1982. Originally an entry in Hartford's West Indian Day Parade, the Dance Troupe has grown over the years into a respected, dynamic community program that serves its youth with integrity, style and devotion. We now serve a community that includes all residents of Hartford and its contiguous towns.

The Troupe fulfills its mission of individual and community empowerment through educational programs for youth development in the Greater Hartford area. It hosts public performances and participates in many cultural events: included is a wide repertoire of traditional folk, modern / contemporary, jazz and ballet dance forms.

Our mission extends beyond performance; we are devoted to fostering cultural understanding, pride, and unity within our community and beyond. By engaging youth and adults alike in educational workshops, artistic collaborations, and cultural showcases, we aim to inspire future generations to embrace and sustain their heritage.

For over four decades, we have served as a beacon of cultural expression, connecting people from all backgrounds through the universal language of the arts. From vibrant stage performances to community outreach programs, The Cultural Dance Troupe of the West Indies continues to uplift, educate, and celebrate the enduring legacy of Caribbean culture.
